This is Sharon, my family's mannequin. Please ignore the fact that she's a woman I don't have a man-equin.
I sewed this dress a while ago for a scholarship contest (theater costuming). I made the pattern myself, same with the rest of my patterns. I love making patterns it is so fun! It lets me be infinately more creative than I could with someone else's pattern.
This one is based on both cheerleading uniforms (at least the top half) and a bit of the original Star Trek's dresses.
It's a pretty simple one but was a fun one to sew! Also it's the only one on this page that was made for Sharon. The rest are quite loose lol!
This is the underlayer of my medieval garb. It includes braies (the white boxer-like garment), hose (the tan leg socks), and the shoes.
The shoes aren't really an underlayer but they are cool. I made them myself too and I'm really proud of that!
The hosen have attatched feet but you can't really see it with the shoes... It looked really bad and loose on Sharon, sorry!
I also made the rope that holds the braies and hose up myself! It is made out of tan yarn.
This tunic is pretty simple. It has gorges near the hem and under the arms to help with movement.
I made this out of an old crib sheet from a family friend, It's a really nice fabric, soft and thin and still strong!
It's really cool that this fabric fell into my lap during the time that I was making this
The tunic is intentially simple because all you'll see is the sleeve hems and maybe a sliver of the collar.
I loved making this tunic. It's made of a heavier cotton, not historically accurate but good!
I had a big problem halfway though the project where I couldn't find enough fabric to make it easy to move in.
I ended up taking some from the sleeves and making them a bit shorter and slimmer in exchange for making the sleeves and the bottom hem easier to move in. I feel like I was very ingenious >:3
I really like how this tunic turned out especially the color. I love this yellow and it's historically accurate! Win!
There are two belts, one to control the tunic and one for decoration as well as holding a pouch.
My outfit is based on medieval pesants, so the pouch is small (just big enough for my phone!)
The hood isn't very histoically accurate, and is in fact an amalgamation of two differnt histoically accurate hoods! So it's like double historical accuracy.
Also the hood is why the collars of the two tunics don't have to be that good.
This type of cloak is called a ruana cloak. I've heard that it's not 100% accurate but it looks good and like it could be accurate, which is what really matters to me.
Overall I really like this outfit. It looks great and really medieval for my first full outfit!
Some of my favorite things are the color pallette (yellow, brown, and red feels like fall or fire, which are two really cool things!), the boots (I hand sewed them and I'm really proud of that), and the hose (they were really hard but I pulled them off in the end!)
I made this for the local ren faire that's coming up in a couple months. I really hope that it goes well and I have a good time! I'm also looking forward to buying some things to level up my garb, like a proper belt or a sword.
This pair of pants used to be two seperate pairs of pants that didn't fit me. I spent a couple days changing that.
Now I have one pair of pants (with extra pockets!) and a bunch of scrap fabric!
I am planning on adding more pockets to make them look like messed up cargo pants, and maybe take the waist in a little bit. It is a couple inches too large for me right now, but that's nothing a good belt can't fix!
I might also choose to add drawstrings or a built-in belt, if I can get them to work. That would be a good project.
